Historial Note

Glyndley is shown on maps from at least 1610. The Almon family built up an estate there during the Elizabethan era. The property then passed through the Meeres, Fagg and Peachey families until brought in 1872 by Captain William Taylor. He extended Glyndley Manor House, the parkland and created a decoy pond. By 1899 the west and east lodges had been built. The Victorians liked to build gate lodges around the edges of their estates. They would normally be designed to reflect the architecture of the main house, as the main house would be obscured from view. East Lodge has since been extended to the large house you see today.
