Carriage house is on the east side of Penuel St., which runs north and south between Priory St. And The Esplanade. On Priory St., you are only 200 metres east of St. Peter's Church and King St., which leads to Nott Square and the main shopping area of Carmarthen. In between, you pass a small supermarket featuring continental foods, several boutiques, hotels, a couple of pubs, a computer shop, and various professional offices, GPs surgeries, and the like.

To the south and east of the property, there are extensive views over the Towy Valley, including access on foot from The Esplanade down to the river itself.

Carriage house is a solid stone and brick building dating from the early part of the 19th century, when the building was used as a workshop for horse-drawn carts and carriages. Located inside walls of old Roman settlement!

By the early part of the 20th century, the building had been converted back to residential use, when it served as the home and surgery of an Army dentist recently returned from service at the Front.

In 2007, Carriage House was completely renovated and an extension was added. The project was designed by a well-known Danish architect, with the aim of providing elegant, open-plan living within a traditional setting. The interior is simple, clean, and bright. Downstairs, the floors are made of reclaimed Victorian timber boards. Upstairs, the floors are ready for wall-to-wall carpeting (which the owner can install to the buyer's specifications). The exterior is traditional whitewash, except the front which is traditional Carmarthenshire stonework. At the rear is a cobble-stoned courtyard and a wooden deck, both of which are very private.

The building is fully insulated to current building standards, making it extremely energy efficient. All plumbing and electrics (wiring & fixtures) are brand new.

The property will suit a couple or a family who want a modern life-style in a traditional setting, with easy access to urban living from a home that feels like it is in the countryside.
