Property description

An exciting project offering a partly restored Grade II Listed Georgian property with development potential (stnc), to complete and create an elegant 5 bedroom period property, sitting in mature grounds approaching 3 acres.

With origins dating back to 1776, Horton Cedars current restored accommodation features hardwood sash windows, box shutters, original wooden flooring, fireplaces and cornicing throughout. Entrance hallway includes a beautiful sweeping staircase providing access to all rooms which benefit from stunning oversized windows providing farmland views from every aspect. Doors from the sitting room lead to an ornate cast iron covered verandah and has steps leading to the lawn. Plans exist (now lapsed) for a re-build of the existing section containing the kitchen and two bedrooms above.

First floor comprises a dual aspect master bedroom with feature bay window, two further bedrooms and main bathroom, including both bath and separate walk in shower. Access is also provided to the existing structure which requires renovating/re-building (stnc, see plans referenced above).

Situation
The property is close to both Sunnymeads and Wraysbury stations providing direct links into Windsor & London Waterloo (approx 50 mins), and also has easy access to both the M4, M25 motorway network and Heathrow Airport.

Horton Cedars is also conveniently situated for access to local shopping, catering for day to day needs, with the village store and local public house within walking distance and the amenities of Datchet village minutes away by car. Horton also benefits from a small local nature reserve ideal for dog walking, running etc..

The Church of England parish church, St Michael and All Angels originates from the 12th century with additions in the 15th and 16th centuries. The name most associated with Horton is that of John Milton (1608-74) whose family rented a house between 1632 and 1640 and whose mother is buried beneath the flat stone tomb in part of the 12th century church. Milton wrote many of his poems, including Il Penseroso and l’Allegro, whille living in Horton and a Victorian window by Kempe in the church commemorates his poem Paradise Lost.

Outside
Approached via electric gates, a sweeping driveway leads to a turning circle at the front of the property. Horton Cedars sits amongst 3 acres of grounds, landscaped to rolling lawn and woodland, providing an option for equestrian usage if required.
