History

This lovely little cottage began its life as a cattle bothy. In the 1950's it was established as a place of worship for the Italian prisoners of war and their families who remained in the area at the end of World War 2. The cottage was then known as St Gerard's and regular masses were held there every Sunday for the local community.

One of Lawrenny's most famous sons is the author and former jockey Dick Francis who was born in Lawrenny in 1920, and went to school in the schoolhouse next door to Salar. The schoolhouse now serves as the Millenium village hall. You will find a collection of his books in the bookcase in the main bedroom of the cottage.

Front Exterior

The property is approached via steps leading up to the front door, with a walled garden inset with mature flowering shrubs.
