Property description

Set in the middle of a terrace of Victorian workers cottages you will instantly be impressed with the charming character of this beautiful, well loved home, even before stepping over the threshold.

The open plan lounge and dining areas allow the light to flood in and the character features throughout the property, such as the original fireplaces and warm wooden floorboards, create a welcoming, relaxing home, ideal for gathering family and friends together for special occasions. You can imagine cooking a treat in the conservatory/kitchen yet being able to mingle at the same time, opening up the doors and spilling out into the sunny courtyard on a warm evening.

The duel aspect bedroom on the second floor is stunning, catching the evening sun through the French windows, highlighting the impressive view.

South Street itself is a no through road that connects the family friendly Snowdrop public house at one end, to the vibrant Cliffe High Street at the other, with its independent shops, cafes, antiques and once a fortnight, a farmers market. South Street has it's own bonfire society who take their spectacular procession right past the front door and you can be walking on top of the Downs in ten minutes from here. A ten minute walk in the other direction and you will find Lewes mainline train station with direct links to London and Brighton.

What the Owner says:
It was the brick work and the gothic windows I first fell for and discovered these details are typical of Ringmer Building Works, who built good, safe houses in this bit of Sussex during the end of the 19th Century. Inside it was the conservatory/kitchen that I found irresistible. I spend huge chunks of time here, soaking up the light and warmth (even on the greyest of days). It's a lovely place to entertain from. The piece de resistance is the bedroom on the top floor, which also has French windows opening onto a balcony, from which you can see across the roof tops of Lewes to the castle and the Downs. I will miss the house but at the risk of offending everyone else in Lewes, it's the South Street community that is going to be impossible to replace.
