Situated in Somerset’s Mendip district, the village of Parbrook is a quiet countryside settlement between Baltonsborough and West Pennard. Not to be confused with the district of the same name in West Sussex, Parbrook constitutes a quarter of East Pennard’s civil parish, alongside the nearby hamlets of Huxham Green and Stone.

Parbrook is in close proximity to Glastonbury, Castle Cary, and Wells - the latter of the three being the smallest city in England. Not far from the location of the famed Glastonbury Festival, the civil parish is just 5 miles south of Shepton Mallet, and 4 miles north west of Castle Cary. The village itself enjoys a seemingly permanent state of tranquility, experiencing very little through-traffic as the majority of services are provided by surrounding towns. The nearby cities of Bristol and Bath are within a reasonable commuting distance at around 30 miles.

Local landmarks of note include the village’s Grade I listed, 14th Century church, which features several original stained-glass windows, a Norman font, and an altar screen. Dedicated to All Saints, the church’s peal of five bells has the second heaviest peal in existence. These include West Pennard Church of England School, Boltonsborough Voluntary Controlled School, and Ditcheat Primary School. Getting around

For a relatively rural settlement, Parbrook is well connected by transport routes. Local railway services in nearby Bruton link the village to areas between Wyemouth and Bristol, while connections to the south-west and London are provided at Westbury, Bath, and Castle Cary. Local bus routes serve the village in all directions, terminating in Withial Farm, Pound Close, and Brook Farm.

Parbrook is linked to neighbouring villages by a system of smaller roads including its main street, Lottisham Road. The village is also bordered by the A361 and the A37, both of which provide access towards the M5 in the west, and Bristol in the north.

While the village itself is largely a residential area, Parbrook enjoys a wealth of small local shops, restaurants, and pubs in its neighbouring villages. For a more inclusive shopping experience, Glastonbury is less than 20 minutes away, and offers a wide selection of high street and designer options.
