The village is built above where the Crafnant joins with River Conwy in the Conwy Valley. Trefriw’s past is ancient, extending to the Roman era when its medicinal, high iron springs drew many travellers, and the area played a significant role in Welsh markets and industry.

Only about two miles southeast lies the historic market town of Llanrwst, once among Wales’s ten largest towns. Many vantage points among Trefriw overlook the town, where villagers go for dining and shopping.

Getting around

The B5106 serves as a high street for the village and provides excellent road transportation links. Nearby Llanrwst is reached in just 2 miles along Gower Road and has several railway stations.

A good bus network serves the area, and Llanrwst can be reached in 7 minutes from central Trefriw by the service. The A470 runs through Llanrwst, which provides good road connections to the rest of Wales.

Local shops

Trefriw has a post office, a general store, a hair salon, a fresh butcher and grocer and a couple of cafes. All other necessities are provided within easy reach in LLanrwst, including supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes.

The town also has a library, a health shop, a garage, furniture and homeware stores and local specialty shops, as well as a community swimming pool. Conwy, just 10 miles north, extends shopping and dining options even further.
