London’s Charing Cross is just 23 miles north and easily accessed by public transport. Because of its location, property prices in Woking are high – particularly suburbs such as Horsell and Woodham. Among the areas charm is a distinctively quieter way of life compared to the city, its canal and historical landmarks. Woking’s best claim to fame is perhaps best reflected by the unusual alien statue resurrected in its centre to honour H.G. Well’s The War of the Worlds - written and set in Woking.
