Godalming offers a wide choice of schools for all ages. Busbridge Infant and Junior Schools are close to College Green, as is Saint Edmund's Catholic Primary School. For senior pupils the area has Broadwater School, a maths and computing Specialist College, as well as Rodborough Technology College and Glebelands School, all catering for 11 - 16-year-olds. There's a number of local independent schools including the Ofsted-rated 'outstanding' Godalming College, the historic Charterhouse boarding school with a mixed sixth form and Saint Hilary's.


There's a great selection of both independent local retailers and national brands in Godalming offering everything from books and gifts to clothing shoes and antiques. There's also Waitrose and Sainsbury's supermarkets plus many local services including a bakery, butchers, post office and several pharmacies. There's also a weekly market and annual Food Festival. For further choice, Guildford's Friary Centre has more than 50 top names and the Tunsgate Shopping Centre offers designer fashions in a stylish conservatory-style square. There's also M&S, House of Fraser and Debenhams department stores and a retail park with DIY giants.


Guildford is just six miles north on the A3100, while the major A3 trunk road from London to Portsmouth is within easy reach, linking the area directly to the capital and the M25. It also gives access to the A31 to Winchester which in turn connects to the M3 to Southampton. Godalming Railway Station is on the Portsmouth to London Waterloo line, with regular services to Guildford, Woking and London. Waterloo can be reached by rail in about 50 minutes. For air travel Heathrow Airport is an easy 32 miles and Gatwick is 42.
