Our award-winning Greenhouse project in Leeds is the UK’s most pioneering low-carbon, mixed-use development, and our most ambitious project to date. From the very beginning, we set out to champion regeneration and set the benchmark for sustainable development. Greenhouse involves the part-refurbishment and part-new-build of a redundant art-deco hostel in South Leeds, begun in 2004. This distinctive development comprises 172 one, two and three-bedroom apartments plus high-specification creative office space. Our concept for Greenhouse is unique yet refreshingly simple; a collection of distinctive homes and offices powered by sustainable energy. Using pioneering technology, we create clean energy to support everyday living and working, without compromising on design, function or quality. The distinctive homes at Greenhouse will save the average resident around £600 a year on their energy bills. So what’s good for the environment is also good for your pockets. Greenhouse is already award winning and is often hailed as being ahead of its time, having combined cutting edge technology with industry leading sustainability measures – but we didn't build it to win awards. We believe we should all have the choice of living a more sustainable lifestyle, and hope that with Greenhouse we've made this more achievable. Our residents love it just as much as we do, so that's a great sign. Testament to this is the number of residents who started off renting and have now bought their own homes.
