Amesbury lies approximately 10 miles to the north of the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury with its wide range of shopping, educational and leisure facilities and bustling twice-weekly market. Abbey Green’s location in Amesbury, just to the south of the A303, means it’s easily accessible for Andover, Reading, Basingstoke and London, as well as being on the main route to the counties of Devon and Cornwall.

Schooling in the area is excellent and includes two well-respected independent grammar schools as well as a variety of state and private, primary and secondary schools.

The town boasts a Sports and Community Centre, a museum housing one of Britain's largest Stone Age collections, and a choice of hotels and B&Bs.


Amesbury currently has four main schools. Its three primary schools - Amesbury Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Christ the King RC Primary School and Amesbury Archer Primary School are attended by many children from within Amesbury, plus other children from Salisbury and beyond. Amesbury also has ‘The Stonehenge School’, a comprehensive school that specialises in maths and computing.


The town has a variety of shops including two supermarkets (Co-op and Tesco), a butcher, a greengrocer and a bakery. Amesbury also has its own weekly market and great choice of independent shops, restaurants and inns.


The town is located just off the A303 with Andover and Salisbury within easy reach for commuters. The nearest railway station is Grateley on the London to Salisbury line which is 9 miles away. The town is well connected with numerous direct Express coach destinations accessible and many local bus services.


The town is well served by Amesbury Health Centre on Smithfield Street. NHS hospital services are provided at nearby Salisbury and Andover.
