Like much of Lancashire, Chorley's wealth came predominantly from the cotton industry, however it thrived as a major market town due to its central location to the four towns of Wigan (8.1 miles); Blackburn (10.8 miles); Bolton (11 miles) and Preston (12 miles). It’s also just 20 miles away from the cosmopolitan city of Manchester, with its wealth of shops, attractions and entertainment venues.
Nestled at the foot of the West Pennine Moors, the traditional market town of Chorley has a wealth of history dating back to the Bronze Age. Chorley’s hour-long Heritage Trail is well worth exploring as it passes some of the town’s highlights. You’ll discover Astley Park’s 43 hectares of parkland and ancient woods, and historic Chorley Market – famous for its local fresh produce since 1498. The town is a walker’s paradise as it’s surrounded by hills and beautiful scenery. If you walk up to Rivington Pikeat Lever Park you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Rivington and Anglezarke Reservoirs, both of which are surrounded by moorland - perfect for outdoor explorers. Chorley Council are also undertakng a £17 million revamp of the town centre, which will see a cinema, new high street retailers and restaurants planned on Chorley's shopping streets.

There is a convenient bus route past the development entrance and Chorley Interchange combining a central bus station and Chorley railway station is just over two miles away.
Exit the M61 at junction 8, and follow the signs towards Chorley Town Centre. At the roundabout take the second exit on to Preston Road (A6) and move to the right hand lane. At the traffic lights bear right towards Chorley A & E (B5252). Continue to the next roundabout and take the first exit on to Chancery Road and the development is on the right in approximately 300m.
