Our vision is to be the leading community provider of affordable homes in Kent. Our core purpose is to provide homes for those who struggle to afford them in the open market and to nurture the communities around those homes. We want to help to create in Kent a prosperous, strong and sustainable society where people can plan for their futures. We will help to make Kent a place of opportunity for all. Our aspiration is founded in the legacy of 24 years of putting our residents first and our enviable reputation for helping people and communities flourish.
We also benefit from having a great team of staff working for us and we provide the support they need to be the best.
In 2009 we were the first organisation in Kent to be awarded the Investors in People (IiP) Gold Standard and in autumn 2012 we became one of the first employers to be awarded it for a second time.
West Kent Housing Association was established in 1989 to accept the transfer of 6,300 homes from Sevenoaks District Council. We were one of the first large scale voluntary transfer (LSVT) associations in the country.
We work in south east England where there is a high demand for housing of all tenures and insufficient supply. Building more affordable homes in the area is a priority for us.
Our relationship with our residents underpins everything we do. Our residents are treated not as passive consumers, but as people with an active role to play in creating a better environment for everybody.
West Kent is a not-for-profit organisation and is regulated by the Homes and Community Agency (HCA).
