Location


Bellaterra developed in 1929 when the chemist Bartoméu parcelled the land and achieved that a “ferrocarriles catalanes” station was built there and put into service on the 22nd of June, 1930.

At the beginning of the 1930’s, architects such as Lluís Girona or Emili Sala Pibernat started to build houses, thought as second homes, in the area of Can Domènec. The official urban development project hadn’t been approved until 1934. Over the years, the town’s development progressively extended and took distance from Cerdanyola social life, until on June 27th, 2008, the Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and the Government of the Autonomous Community of Catalunia approved emd’s draft proposal.

In July 2010 the decentralized local authority was formally estabilished. From this date, Bellaterra was not considered a neighbourhood anymore but had turned into a small town belonging to Cerdanyola del Vallès.

This area is characterized by its quality of life, its peaceful and green surroundings and its proximity to other small towns and the city of Barcelona, both reachable by car and by train.
