Space To Enjoy The five bedroom home, which was built brand new in 2005 by Sheridan Homes, also includes an outdoor swimming pool complex with a sauna and a hot tub and a state-of-the-art home cinema & gymnasium. “Other than a few cosmetic changes, we have not had to make any improvements as it is only a few years old, ” the owner said, “We have been living here for two years and the previous owners were here for three.” The generously proportioned house is complimented by the south-west facing garden, with the grounds extending to just over half an acre.
Best Of Times The owners are enthusiastic, “One of our favourite times is Sunday morning where we go and get the papers and croissants for the local shops and lounge around by the pool in our bathrobes, read the papers and go for a dip. It’s so relaxing. Today, being blessed with our son, and our friends also having children, the house has also moved to a different level of being the perfect family home with plenty to entertain the children.”
First Impressions Passion abounds, “As soon as we drove into the driveway I immediately fell in love. When we got out of the car the first thing I noticed was the smell of a forest and the feeling of being in the middle of the country although we are only 40 minutes away from London. When walking into the house for the first time, it was unbelievable how light and airy it felt with large windows and patio doors throughout the whole of the back of the house leading into the most spectacular garden. The garden almost felt like an additional room”.
Timeless Luxury “The one thing that we both feel is that the house would suit any age group as it works on so many different levels. When we first moved here we were newly married with no responsibility of children and what fun we had entertaining all of our friends! It’s a great party house with plenty of room and facilities. One of the best parties we have had here was my 30th. We hired a dance floor for the lounge and there was a huge marquee in the garden with catering. We danced and partied and swam throughout the night with no worries of disturbing the neighbours! There is no limit to the amount of people you can entertain. At Christmas we normally have about 23 people that come and stay, with en-suite bedrooms for the older people and the younger members of the group like nothing more than camping out in the cinema room on the sofa beds watching a few films”.
Playing Favourites Olivia’s explains that her favourite room in the house is their bedroom. “It almost feels like you’re in a hotel suite it’s so warm and relaxing. One of the main features of the house are the huge windows and when I’m sitting on the settee in my bedroom the sun streams in all day long with incredible views to the garden.” Indeed, the ensuite to the master bedroom is the largest bathroom in the house with a generous spa bath and a wide shower cubicle. The fitted dressing room has ample hanging space for even the most fashionable of occupants.
Village Living The centre of the village is just a few minutes’ walk away. “It’s quite charming with all the traditional shops like butchers, bakers, fishmongers and organic greengrocers. There is a real sense of community spirit; so it’s a joy to go and potter around to get your shopping. There’s also some lovely restaurants and a couple of pubs in the village.” For families with young children there is a very good little primary school a few minute walk away with great Ofsted reports. There is also the City of London Freemen’s independent school which is one of the top schools in the country.
Within Easy Reach There is a regular bus service into Epsom which caters for any of your local needs with plenty of shops, nice restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from. Alternatively, you can be in central London in 40 minutes with train services running from Ashtead Station to Waterloo or Victoria every 15 minutes.
