'Appearance is everything' when selling a home

People thinking of selling their property in the months ahead should do all they can to ensure that it looks attractive to potential buyers and not simply rest on their laurels, it has been noted.
Stuart Law, chief executive at Assetz, said that, when it comes to selling a home, the age-old adage of making sure the house is appealing and attractive still applies.
He advised homeowners to look after the building's exterior and be clear about what opportunities there are to improve the property as well.
The expert also warned homeowners against leaving lots of "small, obvious jobs" when people come around to look at the property, as they may then wonder what else needs doing.
"Do a good tidy-up, just as people do with cars. When people sell cars they tidy up all of the little [marks] that they got in the car park, they polish the car and all of the usual things – do the same with your house. Make sure it presents as best it can," Mr Law recommended.
His advice follows tips issued by designer Danielle Proud, who said that homeowners looking to boost the value of their property may find that they can increase their home values by adding insulation to the property and revamping the lighting arrangement.
