Get ready to insulate UK property before winter
4th Oct 2012
The last two winters in the UK have been particularly problematic for many people across the country, as they have had to suffer from increasing energy bills for heating at times of harsh weather.
If this is an issue which has had an effect in your own properties for sale though, you could take the chance to act now, and make sure your house retains all the heat it can. This way, you will reduce the amount of gas used in keeping everyone warm.
One of the best ways to do this is to use insulation in the loft area of the home. Heat always rises, and much lost energy goes out through roofs in poorly maintained UK property.
You can tackle this by getting up into the loft and clearing out your years' worth of rubbish and clutter, before you then take the opportunity to lay strips of insulation, which will help to keep the heat within your house.
Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), said: "If you want to bring your house up to standard then you have got to apply the insulation either internally - that would be in some sort of sheet form – or else you can provide it externally, providing that you are not in a conservation area."
