Impressive entrance halls 'extremely important' to sellers

22nd Feb 2012

The entrance hall of a property is one of the most important features when it comes to selling a house, and homeowners should bear this in mind when it comes to putting the property on the market, one specialist has advised.

Graham Lock, director and co-founder of House Network, explained that many people underestimate the importance of the entrance hall when it comes to selling a house.

However, he pointed out that this is where potential buyers' journeys will begin and end, and so first and last impressions are vital.

He advised: "Brighten up the hallway with light and warm colours, add mirrors to create a spacious feel and remove any unnecessary objects. A simple thing such as fresh flowers and candles can make people feel at home and give a sense of calm."

The expert made further recommendations to property sellers, noting that de-cluttering is "essential" and general cleanliness is an absolute must.

Mr Lock explained that most people have lived in their homes for seven years or longer and although they may feel their house is great, they may not realise how much clutter they have built up over the years.

"Invest in some paint, carpets and a mini skip to get rid of those things that have been around for too long," he advised.

One golden rule is that if people have not used something for one year, then they should either store it elsewhere or bin it completely, the specialist concluded.ADNFCR-1286-ID-801299474-ADNFCR
