Retirement villages 'a good option for downsizing'
21st Mar 2012
Older citizens who are considering putting their property on sale so that they can downsize their living arrangements have been encouraged to think about moving to a retirement village.
James Cobb, founder of Retirement Property Options, pointed out that many people who have moved to such facilities have done so because of the isolation they felt in a big home.
"You find yourself in a large property that you have had for many years, maybe you have lost a partner and the alternative is you get care into your own home, but that doesn't resolve the issue of isolation," Mr Cobb explained.
For those considering moving into a retirement village, the expert advises researching the options nearby online and having a chat with people already based in such properties.
"It is very important to understand what it all means," Mr Cobb concluded.
When it comes to selling a property to make way for a downsize, Stuart Law, chief executive at Assetz, believes it is still critical to make the home look as appealing and attractive as possible to potential buyers.
