Open plan kitchens 'on the rise'

There is a growing trend for UK homeowners to adopt open plan living rooms in their properties, according to one expert who has predicted this will continue in the months ahead.
According to Graham Robinson, showroom manager at ANLO Kitchens, there are many ways in which people can get the most out of a kitchen space - even a small one.
He noted that the popularity of the minimal, "handleless" look and open plan kitchens extending to living areas has further helped to open up small kitchens.
This trend is gathering pace, with technology satisfying the need for ever sharper details, the expert explained.
The slim-line offering provides a solution for the consumer looking to make the most of a smaller room with a sleek, elegant look, while designers can reduce the carcase depth to as little as 100mm, which opens up considerable potential for the designer to explore the space.
Making use of floating base units, meanwhile, can also help to maximise the floor space.
"The chunky and solid look for the entire kitchen is diminishing in popularity, but a strong design statement can be created through contrasts," Mr Robinson added.
This could be a breakfast bar with a multi-level seating area, a striking antique dining table or a multifunctional cooking hob area, which works as a centrepoint of the kitchen, he concluded.
