What are the rules & regulations regarding siting a caravan/mobile home on my land whilst I self build?

  • As you are building an new build house and have planning permission for this, Its best to let the council know that you are putting a temporary home on the site, you might need permission in certain circumstances and areas.

  • If you have planning granted from the local authority to undertake the build they should be accommodating but I would recommend you make them aware of your plans, they may have to grant a license which will be linked to the build. However if the site has no consent and you are beginning to apply it may be viewed as a seperate application and therefore you would have to apply for planning for the mobile home. Either way best speak to the local authority.
