  • This all depends on how much you are paying for the property (stamp duty etc). You need to check with the solicitors, estate agents etc - they will be able to give you the costings. Don't forget to factor in the removal costs too & possible cleaning closts. Good Luck!

  • Moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do, and finances not stretching as far as you thought is a major reason why. Removal costs for a start can quickly pile up, it’s not just about putting things in a van, the cost to move is often broken down into specific tasks so if you need furniture taken apart before its loaded into the van, if you need to the van to travel further than the next town, if you need the furniture carefully packed and then if you need it put back together, this will all cost more than simple renting a van for an hour. Add to that all the paperwork of conveyancing fees, stamp duty and land registry costs, as well as securing a mortgage that may demand payments that were higher than you hoped and you’ve probably got lots more out-goings than you realised when you first gathered up your deposit. So, how much does it cost to move? Probably more than you budgeted for! Be prepared, and always have a contingency fund at the ready for unforeseen costs.
