  • It all depends on what you think of as 'best'. I would say the typically most sought after roads are the ones running to the west of the Wells Road between Broadwalk and Totterdown - Woodbridge, Calcott, Belluton, Brecknock etc. If you want proximity to Hillcrest Primary School, you need to be pretty close these days - so Somerset Road is a good bet. To the east of the Wells Road you can get however get just as much house but for (slightly) less money - Marston, Glena, Selworthy etc. As for friendliness, all much of a muchness I would say. The area has quite a liberal young-family feel to it, and proximity to the Jubilee Rd swimming pool is a good plus point.

  • I should add - gardens can be a problem. The roads that are NOT Victorian houses and are instead 'Chard', tend to have bigger gardens but this is because they don't have the large kitchen/3rd bedroom 'outrigger', so you will have a smaller 3rd bedroom and galley kitchen but a larger garden. There are a few streets where you can get a larger Victorian terrace AND a reasonable garden - Cleeve, Withleigh, Langham and Jubilee come to mind.
