Is Thurso Crescent, Dundee a safe and friendly area to live? Do you know of any problems within the area, e.g. asbos etc?

I am new to the area and I am possibly looking to buy a property in Dundee due to a new job position. I am at present living on Patons Lane and this area seems to be OK.

  • I was raised in Menzieshill and had loads of friends who lived in Thurso Crescent, back in the 70's Thurso had a strong sense of community spirit and the neighbours were friendly and approachable, each looking out for each other but without interference, you could 'leave your key' if you were away on holiday or awaiting the delivery of a parcel. Sadly times have changed. Thurso is no worse or no better than any other scheme/area, one down side is the traffic congestion caused by the hospital. lots of people still remain living in this area which is a good sign. Can i suggest that you try renting in this area on a short lease before buying.

  • I've lived in Menzieshill for 16 yrs. When I first moved here it was a brilliant area. Now it has gone down hill drastically and there are a lot of people wanting out. Personally, I woudn't recommend buying a house in Thurso as I used to live there. I wouldn't recommend Menzieshill to anyone who is buying property. It's not the scheme it used to be years ago - sorry.
