How to find out if a property is ex council

Looking at buying a property (flat) in a block, how can I find out if it is ex council property?

  • Check your local authority or speak to the land registry who can run a search for you for around £4-£8.

  • Hi, we are a Croydon based estate agency. 9 times out of 10, the freehold to the block will still be owned by Croydon Council. Just ask the estate agent or property owner who the freeholder is

  • You can look on the land registry which would show who the original owner was.
