What is Burnham in Bershire like??

What is it like to live on the north side of Burnham, Berkshire? And what is the village like? Thanks.

  • North burnham is Bucks not Berks, the village high street is OK with essentials, people favour northern part of village since it's quiet with a good neighbourhood; I heard the southside is enjoying some increasing house price due to Crossrail.

  • Depends what part of Burnham you live in. We lived off Huntercombe Lane North until 3 years ago and felt the area deteriorated in the time we were there, devaluing our flat. To be honest we were glad to get out of there and we saw quite a bit of crime (car broken into several times, cars set on fire), but I believe other parts of Burnham are much nicer. Council tax is higher than other areas too (South Bucks council). On the plus side, the village centre itself isn't bad, and the village does have a library and a big doctor's surgery.

  • We moved to Burnham, Berks 6 years ago because of the grammar schools. The area is catcment for Berks grammar schools. There is a rail line to Paddington and plenty of industry in the Trading Estate which is being improved. Transport links to London via the M4 and M40. The area has definitely improved since we first moved. The town centre has/is being improved and expect house prices to keep going up because of this and the Crossrail.
