  • Hi jantest12345, As the county town of Kent, Maidstone has plenty going for it depending on your personal needs. In 2011 the town of Maidstone had a population of around 113,000, which means that it is not too busy. It has the River Medway which runs through the middle of it, while countryside is never too far away. Historically heavy industry provided plenty of employment opportunities, but this has now changed to the services industry as time has passed. The Office for National Statistics reveals that the average gross income was £31,000. Maidstone has good transport links, with the M20 putting you just under 40 miles away from London, which takes around an hour to navigate. The Ashford International train station will get you to London Victoria in just under an hour, making Maidstone an excellent commuter town. When it comes to education there is plenty of choice of secondary and primary schools for a town, while good shopping facilities are provided through Fremlin Walk and The Mall Maidstone. With the rest of Kent on your doorstep, there are plenty of things to see and do at the weekend. Dover and links to France are just 45 minutes away via the M20, while Bluewater Shopping Centre, the Channel Tunnel, Eurostar, Canterbury, Whitstable and Tonbridge Wells are all on the horizon. Thanks Scott
