17 year old buying a property

My 17 & 18 year old sons would like to buy a property together. It would be a cash purchase (no mortgage necessary). Can the 17 year old buy a property?

  • Hello, A person under the age of 18 cannot own land or property in the UK - but you might want to hold the 17 year old's share in your name or in a trust until he reaches that age. Hope that helps... Thanks, Ruban
