What are drawbacks to leasehold?

  • Depends how long the lease is, what you have to pay in service charges and ground rent. In your part of the UK, there are houses with 999 year+_ leaseholds with no service charges and and 1p a year ground rent. These are all but freehold in name.Be careful to buy anything with less than 50 years less on the lease. Good luck! Christopher

  • Freehold is much better if you can get it, doesn't really matter if you have something like 999years on the lease.
