  • I moved to Rossendale in May of 2010 and live in the center which is a town called Rawtenstall. Its not a bad town at all, its semi rural and its a lovely looking town and theres any trouble, the only downsides are the shops, sure you have a few in town but nothing special. I travel to Blackburn or Accrington, depending on what I want and for Clothes its easy access to Manchester so really as longs as you have a car its not really a problem. I have lived all over, Burton On Trent, Uttoxeter, Blackpool, Mojacar in Spain, Great Harwood and now here and I dont plan on moving any time soon. Its a quiet town and no hustle and bustle like you get in larger towns its lovely.

  • I have lived in Rossendale for 25 years and although local wages are low in the area it is within easy access of all the main motorways, so if you are prepared to travel 20 miles you can work in any of the main towns or even Manchester. I have stayed in work as a self employed person, travelling where required and been able to relax in a rural setting with a local village atmosphere.

  • Hi, We would suggest that you get in touch with local estate agents in order to get some background about the area. You can search for agents using the ‘find agents’ tab on the top of the Zoopla Page. We hope this helps.

  • Rossendale is a lovely place otherwise referred to as the 'Rossendale Valley' - I live in Rawtenstall and it is a lovely place to live. I have lived here since 2008 and have never had any problems, I live up on Hardman Avenue on the left side and my garden is backed by farm fields. I simply love it. Its quiet and peaceful and I plan to stay here. We have an Asda and Tescos which are both in easy reach and both in Rawtenstall. The town centre is historic and very pleasing to the eye, I simply love going for a coffee in town its such a peaceful town. We also have the historic Victorian railway which is a well known tourist attraction. Manchester is 19 miles away which has the Arndale and the Trafford Centre for shopping, otherwise you could easily get to Bury, Accrington, Burnley and Blackburn within a 15 min drive or catch the bus. If you are going to live in Rossendale, choose Rawtenstall, it's the best town in the Valley and is well kept by the council. The only downside is traffic going through the valley, if you live in Rawtenstall it isn't really a problem, but if you live in the other towns you can expect a long journey home if you need access to the motorway. Traffic usually builds up around 8 and 9am and 4:30 and 6pm, but most towns do these days I guess. The council are improving the traffic and Rawtenstall may be opening a new railway line to Manchester which will ease traffic through the valley. Rawtenstall also has a main motorway link direct to Manchester. Which is a Bonus! I am only 34, not originally from the area, my parents have also moved here 3 years ago as its a perfect town for retiring! Overall Rossendale is a lovely place to live, I have never had any trouble walking around town or where I live, its a respectful town. The scenery is nice and the town is surrounded by rural farms and is perfect for walkers. Its a rural town with polite welcoming people.
