Stamp Duty Query Regarding 3% Surcharge
Hi I moved out of my previous main residence in August 2014 into rented accommodation in order to decide whether I was happy to live in a new area. I had lived in that property for over 10 years before moving out. Since then I have rented out my previous main residence and have been renting up until now. I have now found a house that i want to buy, but believe `i will be liable to pay stamp duty including the 3% surcharge for second properties. If I buy the house I have found and then subsequently sell my other property, will i be able to claim back the stamp duty surcharge and if so what would be the timescales for doing so? I do own another property in Spain.
