What determines a room as reception room?

I have a large lounge/diner which is classed as one reception room. What determines a reception room? Is it e.g. size, shape, having a door that closes the room off from another?

  • Hi LurchPhoic, If knocked through it is indeed one reception. Reception usually means any ground floor room that is not a kitchen or utility, etc. Hope that helps! Jonathan :-)
