  • Hi Stoney523, Solar panels are a hard one to predict when it comes to their effect on the overall value of a house, because they are still relatively new on a domestic basis, and as such it can be difficult to have universal opinions on their effect. It can often come down to personal opinions of buyers. For example, while one may think that they provide great value on savings and energy bills, there will be others who look at it and say that it is not worth it for the aesthetic changes they need to make to their home. Another factor that will have an effect will be how long you intend to live at an address after installing panels. They only have a lifespan of 25 years, so if you fit them and then live there for a long period of time, their value to another buyer will eventually start to decrease. Many thanks, Scott

  • Hi, It's not necessarily a case of having an affect on the value of the property. You have got to be very mindful and careful when having solar panels installed as some companies will have a lease on the solar panels for 25 years and as they have a charge on your property it is extremely difficult to sell your property with its lease in place. We hope this helps.
