I am looking to do a bathroom refit on my property, will this add more value than it will cost?

I have quite a small bathroom with an off-white/beige suite. It is in the centre of our terraced house so no windows. The room is fully tiled, though these have been painted. I am looking to replace the suite with an all white suite, re-tile the walls and replace the flooring with tiles / aqua-step flooring. I have been quoted £2,000 plus I have to buy the suite, taps and tiles. Can I expect to make this cost back when I come to sell, which I am hoping to be in a position to explore in around 18 months time, or would I be better off simply ensuring the rest of the house is in good decorative order (which I am already doing)?

  • This depends on so many different things and so I would suggest talking to your local estate agents to find out how well properties in your area are selling and what types of properties are selling well. Generally speaking I would say that updating your bathroom will get better interest in the property and hopefully from there, better offers... Hope that helps.
