Would an array of solar panels reduce the value of my property?

I have a 5-bed detached property in Windsor (built 1932): Would a large array of solar panels fitted across the front facing roof section reduce the value of the property? Indeed would the value increase as a consequence? Feed-In-Tariff would equal 11% ROI per annum on the £15,000 investment (for 25-years).

  • In answer to your question, as yet there is insufficient data to formulate whether Solar Arrays would have a negative or positive effect upon the sale price of a property. Logically, if a property has a stand alone substantial income attributed to the owner, then it would be reasonable to assume that the property would increase in value. Whether that increase would equate to the cost of the installation is debatable, as with any home improvements. As an example if a property had a 5Kwp system installed, the income produced could be as much as £2000 pa. If any other improvement were planned, then the income from the PV could be utilised to fund the other improvements, ie conservatory, etc I hope this helps Regards Steve the Solar Centre
