Affect on house prices in the South haven close area of Turin moor, due to being ex council and large pylon, also backing onto railway line, hesitant

I am looking at buying a end terrace property in the south haven close area of the Turin moor, ex council estate, but property is located near a large nat grid pylon, and backs onto railway line , I also hear the estate has problem with crime issues, not sure to what extent? Also not sure prices should be here, the property itself I like but has been on market for long time.

  • Go to and type in the postcode. You'll see historic values and selling prices, from there you can compare with similar areas without the problems described. As far as crime is concerned, call the local police station - speak to a beat officer, they are usually very informative (and frank). Good luck.

  • Turlin Moor is quite notorious for crime but their are parts of Hamworthy that are very nice and close to the Turlin Moor area. If you are looking at buying on Turlin Moor itself, make sure you are not paying over the odds and think about wether the house price will increase over the period of 10 years or more.
