  • Hi strangelittleman, the property price question is one that splits opinion up and down the country, depending on which statistics you look at. For example, in the summer when Knight Frank released its predictions, the company said that it was unlikely there would be any sort of resurgence in the market until at least 2014. However, in recent months, the mortgage lending figures according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) have shown that there has been an increase in home buying loans approved. This shows an increase in demand, which will always push prices upwards. The CML said that it was hoping to see an increase in the number of houses bought throughout 2013, with a lot more first timers able to come to the market through the NewBuy and Funding for Lending initiatives, so there is a possibility that prices could actually increase in the next 12 months. Thanks, Scott

  • Hard to say if prices will increase in 2013. 2012 has been a very uncertain year where there had been signs of encouragement in the summer when sales at ARQ homes were up. However the year ended with surveyors down-valuing four of our agreed sales which left our experienced sales team bemused. Surely it cant carry on like this! Demand for properties in areas like East London and Essex are good so if the lenders can increase in their lending which appears to be the case then 2013 should be the year where the recent trend will change.

  • Personally i do not think the rise will happen until 2020 but there are few area's currently, where the price has gone up but £20k in past 12 month.
