The advertised asking price of £156,950 is to purchase a property at SO31 6AY , What price would I expect to pay into today's market?

  • Depends how long on market and vendors position. Depends on your buying ability ie. deposit and funds. I would start at 150k.. number 18 went for £143 in March this year. Prices in Southampton are rising fast and houses sell quickly. Don't make mistake of thinking it's a buyers market here because shortage of houses coming to market mean several buyers for every property!

  • If you have the funds in place i.e. mortgage offer, the right deposit and can move quickly (not part of a chain) then an offer of £150,000 would look very inviting, but please remember there is a real shortage of properties on the market today and with more buyers than sellers, sellers are sometimes waiting for the full asking price. Talk to the agent thats selling the property, explain your current circumstances and if you can move quickly make sure that the agent relays this to their client. I live in Locks Heath myself so i'm very aware of how quickly the right property can sell. Good luck.

  • What is the property worth to you!!! If you lost it for the sake of £2k how would you feel??? If this is to be your home and not an investment then as long as it is within your comfort zone financially and is priced correctly for the area then think long term!
