Flats in central Southampton

Where should I look for a 2 bed, 2 bath, good size flat which has secure parking and in a decent central Southampton location? I am a cash purchaser and want to find something. Have been disappointed over a couple of repossessions whereby I have offered over the asking price.

  • You need to be ultra careful! Many new flats are taken over by student rentals. Some builders gave up and just let out. Quite a few parts of Southampton advertised as trendy and city living are in fact in bad areas and I wouldn't want to walk around there at night. All you can do is keep looking daily on rightmove and haunt all the agents in London road and in Shirley.

  • It may be worth trying local auctions?

  • Hi, Dependant on your budget I can suggest popular developments like Merchants Quarter, The Greenwich both of which are close to the high street, South Western House is nice but maintenance etc is expensive, Anson house is very good value.

  • Southampton has been privvy to a boom in new flats being built, with developments like Oceana Boulevard and Admirals Wharf being popular for both investment landlords and buyers who intend to occupy the property themselves. I would suggest you use tools which agents use like Rightmove, Zoopla and Southern Property Finder. Also looking at local property newspapers will give you an idea on current selling prices and also how quickly the propertys sell.
