Property value has risen

I had a offer on my property in February, since then prices have risen considerably, can I request for an increase from the buyers?

  • What is the basis for your assertion that prices have risen? Have you had a better offer? If you have not yet exchanged contracts then you could change your mind. But what if the reaction of the buyer is to walk away?

  • Have the prices really risen considerably? Have other identical houses actually sold for more? I think that this would be risky as you may well lose your current buyer. It depends whether you have another offer on the table at a higher price. Even if you do, you would upset your current buyer and your agent and risk losing your sale completely.

  • You can ask but if they pull out and your stuck back to square one you may have to wait for new buyers etc. so its a difficult call to make
