Can I re-negotiate the sale price of house?

We made an offer on a house a couple of months ago (which was accepted) but are holding off on the survey on the owner's advice, until they have found a property to move to. The house prices have since dropped significantly in our area in the last few weeks, with similar properties being reduced in price by about £25k for a 3 bedroom house, like we are buying. We now feel like we would be paying well over the odds as the value of the property we like has dropped in value. Can we renegotiate on the sale price?

  • Until contracts are exchanged you can withdraw the offer or renegotiate.
