Renting - will I need help?

Hello, I am currently earning £17,000 per annum. Will I still require a guarantor to rent a flat costing between £400 - £500? I have good credit history also.

  • Hello Amardeep, This is a very rough calculation but let's say your take-home pay is £13,600 (£17,000 minus 20%) - so that's £1,133 per month. You should be allocating about 1/3 of that on rent so you might still need some kind of guarantor. Your good credit history will definitely help though. I would suggest speaking with lettings agents as they'll be able to give you a better idea of what you can afford (with and without a guarantor). Best of luck, Ruban
