Moving back after living abroad

Returning from abroad to live in Bristol. No references, credit history etc. However, i can provide 6 months rent in advance plus fees and have enough cash to cover bills and so on. Can anyone help?

  • Hi Sarah, If you are able to pay six months of rent up front, you would be pretty hard pushed to find a letting agent who would not be happy to do business with you. At the end of the day, all they want to know through credit checks and references is that the rent will be paid on time and in full. If you are paying the whole lot in one go (or a sizeable portion depending on the length of the lease) it will negate the need for all that. The only thing you might find is a hurdle is if you do not have a job lined up in the UK and you are looking for a lease longer than six months. The landlord or agent may worry that come the end of the period you have paid up front, you will not be able to keep up with payments. However, if you are just looking for a short term option until you can get settled back in Bristol, then you should have no problem with any agents when paying fees and rent up front. Many thanks, Scott

  • Most agents will not do any credit checks or references if you can pay rent upfront so you should not have too much trouble finding a rental property
