Pets in Rental property

I have a dog and I am considering renting. Will this be a major problem or are there landlords out there that are comfortable with pets?

  • Hey Jofis, It is a problem that is becoming more and more common in the UK (Landlords not wanting to let to tenants with animals). Sadly, it's their choice. Don't lose hope though, as there are steps you can take and property portals that choose pet friendly Landlords for you. I also did a little write up on this exact issue with the knowledge I know. I'll leave you a link below. I hope you find a home! Good luck. Jeff :-)

  • Hi Jofisabel, Unfortunately there is a lack of rental properties on the market where pets are accepted today, but there are steps you can take to improve your chances. Landlords are concerned about potential damage that pets (especially larger dogs) can inflict on a property. Try to prove to potential landlords that your dog is an asset rather than a nuisance. A great way to do this is with a pet CV - include a reference from your previous landlord and your vet to help ease your landlords concerns. You could even introduce the landlord to your dog. I've popped a link to some more information that might be helpful :) Good luck!
