Minimum tenancy age for property?

Looking for a property available for a full-time working 16 year old with a guarantor.

  • The law states that unless you are 18 or over you are unable to hold a tenancy agreement. However, you could potentially rent using a licence. This basically means that you have the Landlords permission to live in the property, rather than the same legal rights granted by a Tenancy. Dependent on the area in which you live, it may prove difficult to find a landlord that would be willing to rent to you. I would certainly say that there would be very few Letting Agents who would be able to consider you for a property. Therefore, you may have to search private listings.
