Paying Rent from Sales Proceeds

I am selling my house and relocating to Devon. My house is mortgage free and I intend to fund the rent from the sale proceeds until I find a job. I am even willing to pay 12 months upfront - how can I explain this to agents who all seem fixated on "income multiples"?

  • Hello - by the looks of things, they want to know that there will be no defaults. As well as making sure your credit rating is in order, if you provide some bank statements, have a guarantor and also an employer reference in place - that would certainly help. To be honest, I wouldn´t let them pressure you into paying a year´s rent up front as you would seemingly tick all the boxes from what I´m seeing.
