It would be worth contacting the University as they may very well have a current 'landlords list'.

Presuming that you are a student then there are a few different options to consider. If you are going in to your first year then most universities recommend looking into their own accommodation - which will either be on campus or a short walk away from facilities.
The advantage of this is that you will be living with other students who are in exactly the same boat - helping you get to know people and get used to university life.
If you are looking towards private rented accommodation then it is worth checking out the advice page from the University of Exeter (I have supplied the link below).
It provides a list of private sector student accommodation via Studentpad in January, while private lettings agencies will tend to do this a month earlier.
The link I have provide also has a whole host of information about what you should look out for when you go to inspect your accommodation, including any scams to be wary of.
