Who can be a guarantor?

Hello I would like ask if there are some rules for a guarantor such as a high income? Who can be a guarantor and what checks need to be done to be a guarantor? Can people who are on benefits rent a flat? Thank you

  • Hello Mischa, As guarantor agrees to take joint responsibility, they will go through the same credit checking process as if they were renting the property themselves. In most cases, a guarantor is a parent, guardian or close relative. People on benefits can rent flats, but it can be sometimes a little tricky as some landlords are reluctant to take on these types of tenants. Thanks, Ruban
