Renting in Blackpool - how does it work?

Hi, my family and I are returning to the UK in a few months, having lived overseas for many years, and need to gain an understanding of how things work. We will initially rent a house. Is it generally easy to find a place to rent? Is there usually a minimum amount of time you need to rent for? Do we have to pay a bond and/or a number of months rent in advance? Is it easy to find furnished properties? We will look for a not-too-expensive and not-too-inexpensive area. Can you let us know what mid-range, decent areas to consider? And what areas to avoid? Anything else we need to know? Thanks!

  • Avoid grange park, mere side and queens park, these are council run estates and have high crime rates. Minimum lease is usually 6 months, payable in advance is usually one months rent and equivelant bond. There are always properties available here as its a transient town, it just depends what your after and which area you want. All areas have nice bits and not so nice bits, generally if you have children you want to avoid town areas from central drive to talbot road (you can find these on google). Bispham is nice, so is cleveleys and parts of layton towards stanley park is lovely. Hope this is of help.
