Relocating without jobs

My wife and I have a 5 month old son. We want to relocate to Leamington Spa in time for him to start nursery in March/April next year. We both will be quitting our well-paid jobs in London and selling our property in order to make this move happen, and plan to rent for 6 months in Leamington in order to relieve ourselves from a chain and enable us to be more nimble when trying to buy permanently. My question is, will estate agents/landlords accept the fact that we both might not have jobs at this point if we can offer to pay the 6 months rent up front, and prove we can afford a lot more than that. ie. we should have made some very good money from the sale of the house and can prove our assets? Do you foresee any areas of concern about this situation? nb. my wife needs some re-assurance..

  • Hello Harvey - by the looks of things, you should be ok as it sounds like you will not have any issues with the credit checking process. Some landlords may request a guarantor and if you could get some kind of reference that would certainly help your case. Perhaps go into the "To rent" section of Zoopla's home page and find some local agents to speak to.
